In the spring of 2007, the Strathmore Lions Club was looking for a project that would improve the area’s quality of life. After consultation with the Town of Strathmore, the club began to focus on recreational opportunities for families with young children.
After looking into a variety of possibilities, members of the Club decided a water park would be a valuable addition. The Club was able to fundraise $130,000 and secured a grant of $125,000 from the Government of Alberta. Town staff members provided expertise, service connections and were committed to the construction of new change rooms. The project was completed in early July of this year and has proven to be a popular attraction to community members of all ages.
The Strathmore Lions Club wish to thank everyone involved in the planning and construction of the water park and hope it continues to be popular with families from the surrounding areas.
