The Annual Strathmore Lions Spring Auction
For many years the Strathmore Lions Club has held an annual auction, This is one of our major fund raising events of the year, and we serve dinner to over 400 people. We gather donated goods from many community businesses and auction them off.
We usually hold this event on the first Saturday night of April. We start the night by auctioning off the first table. This table comes with a first class prize, free wine, first to go to the buffet, and a Lions member to serve them. The dinner is roast beef with all the trimmings.
After dinner, we proceed to the auction. The first item auctioned off is the pick-of-the-litter. The winner of this item get to pick from all the items up for auction, excluding one or two annual items. The rest of the night is in a standard auction format with a silent auction and a regular auction.
The price of the evening is $25.00 per person. This includes the dinner and drinks. Previously the monies raised by this event have gone to projects such as the swimming pool, the splash park, the Handy Bus Society, the High School sports bus, and the skate board park.
